February 1997 was also a Superdraw with an unusual jackpot amount of
£9,999,999. The three subsequent Wednesday draws were Superdraws – designed to
give the (then new) Wednesday evening draw a kick-start.
Oh, how times have changed! The first Superdraws talked of £10 million
jackpots, whereas nowadays it’s more like jackpots of €100 million.
Has inflation really increased the jackpots by this amount? Not really. Remember
that Superdraws are now part of the EuroMillions, thus increasing the amount of
